What Is "REAL"ity?

 

Introduction 101

What is reality? 

By definition, dictionary.com has provided reality as being "the state or quality of being real." Tracing its etymology we find its roots in the Latin word, realis, or "belonging to the thing itself." 

In understanding its terminology, how do we now figure out what is real? Observation and verifying primary resources provide the most accurate description of what occurred, but do those specific methods necessarily equal true reality? To be accurate, they do not. Have you ever witnessed a magic show? What you thought you saw, may not have been reality. Yet, an expert usage of lights, smoke and quick hand movement. If you were to ask me what I ate for breakfast two weeks ago, I would not remember. But that does not negate the fact that I did indeed still eat breakfast two weeks ago.

We must take into consideration that memory does not equal reality. As we see in many court cases, the main trick of a lawyer is to get the witness to contradict their words. In doing so they discredit their own memory, in turn making their version of what happened (reality) void. If one's own understanding of what happened does not guarantee what is "real", how than can we reconcile what reality is to others?

We must come to the conclusion that reality is not the same for everyone. Different backgrounds and circumstances in life make us all the individually unique beings we are today. So what exactly is reality? If it is different from one person to the next, how exactly do we come to grasp to what exactly it is? 

Man has done a fair job trying to "marginalize" reality and presents a collective understanding of past events running current with our present day narratives known as history.

If we take a look at the current population, it is over 7 billion strong; with the number increasing every second. How can one accurately record the stories of so many people in our current age, as well as the stories of the ones who have come before us?

It is evident that the "more" important or globally connected stories have found their way, once from stone onto paper. But if we are only presented with the stories deemed important enough to recall, that leaves for billions of stories and narratives that have been lost, forgotten or not in the spotlight. With the presented evidence of lost stories, we must understand that all we know is not all that is to be known. 

Paradigm Shift Edu is dedicated to looking at "reality" in different aspects. Sometimes, two people can look at the same exact number, yet one sees a "6", while the other sees a "9". EVERYTHING is about perception. 

We will never claim to have all the answers, nor will we be able to answer all the questions. In dedicating our energy to expanding consciousness we are able to give what we have been gifted with our peers through explaining paradigms that be and helping shift focus to see things clearer.
